Whitney Adeniran, a female student at Chrisland High School in Ikeja, Lagos, who was 12 years old, had her mother confirm the cause of death.
According to Blessing Adeniran, the mother, the investigation revealed that her daughter died from electrocution while participating in school sports at Lagos' Agege Stadium.
Mrs. Adediran stated in a live video posted on her official business Instagram account on Wednesday that an autopsy carried out to determine the circumstances surrounding the death revealed that the cause of death was electrocution.
In response to the controversy surrounding the student's death, the Lagos State Government ordered the school to close for good for two weeks.
Before the autopsy, the student's parents insisted that he or she was fine before leaving home on the specified day. However, the school administration denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the student "slumped" at the stadium.
An alleged effort to cover up?
Mrs. Adediran cried profusely and said that since her daughter's death three weeks ago, she has been traumatized. She added that the school had also contributed to her suffering by allegedly "pushing false narratives to protect their reputation."
She stated They started propagating the narrative that she was ill, and they made me believe I was crazy. I told them that I wanted answers, not trouble. They visited my residence. I knelt and begged, saying that I didn't want my daughter killed for the sake of an autopsy. "I told them my daughter is already dead, and I don't want to put her through that. My husband also told them that we have been hearing rumors of electrocution and asked them to help us investigate these rumors, but they refused."
They wrote to me and my husband in a letter to reassure us that they had done everything in their power to save my daughter's life.
Mrs. Adediran went on to say that the family would take legal action against the school.
Background: The student's parents initially blamed the school administration for their son or daughter's tragic death.
They used social media to appeal to the public for help figuring out what might have caused their daughter's sudden death while she was participating in sporting events.

In response, Ike Ofuokwu, Chairman of the School Advisory Board, issued a statement stating that the deceased 12-year-old "slumped in public view and not under any hidden circumstances."
According to Mr. Ofuokwu, "our immediate response was to take advantage of proximity by identifying the closest medical facility to take her to, where the doctor on duty administered oxygen and every possible aid to her."

She stated that she is unsure. They refused to look into it.
