Major cause of Diarrhea In Children

 President, Federation of African Nutrition Societies, Prof Ngozi Nnam, has said that diarrhea is the major cause of repeated sanitarium visits by children. 

 She prompted parents to pay better attention to diarrhea in children, advising that it could lead to death. 

Nnam said this on while speaking at The PUNCH Media Foundation webinar series with the theme “ Food Security, Nutrition, and Food Safety, ” in commemoration of the World Food Safety Day. 

 Prof Nnam prompted individualities to avoid unsafe food practices that can lead to conditions, malnutrition, and food instability. 

“ Safe food is food that's free from physical, chemical, and natural impurity during storehouse, processing, transportation, medication, and other processes. 

 “ Food can be defiled by pathogens like bacteria. It can be defiled by contagions, fungus, insects, rodents, catcalls, and creatures as well as physical objects and chemicals. 

“ The impurity will affect in unsafe food that we call conditions like diarrhea. In fact, diarrhea is the major cause of sanitarium visits by children, and repeated visits could affect in death. 

 “ The major focus should be avoiding polluted foods with pathogens at any point of food running. ” 

Nnam, who's also a professor of Community and Public Health Nutrition at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, said preventives should be taken during food running to avoid impurity. 

 “ Keep food medication areas clean, there should be no cover around. Use clean shells and implements for food medication. Fridges and freezers should be kept at the applicable temperatures to serve well and keep food safe. 

“ Food kept in the fridge should be consumed within five days as bacteria can start growing over the food during storehouse, cooked food should be consumed within two hours of medication, ” she advised. 

 According to her, food shouldn't only be available and accessible to people but should be utilised by the body when consumed to achieve good health.
