Limelight for translucency and Responsibility Initiative, anon-governmental organisation, has expressed concern over what it describes as the “ frequence of order complaint affecting people in some corridor of Yobe. ”
The Chief Executive Officer of the organisation, Alhaji Modu Mu’azu, expressed the group’s solicitude at a news conference on Tuesday in Damaturu.
He said the issue of order complaint in Yobe came shocking and intimidating following a recent report by the International Centre for Investigative Reporting.
He added that the report indicated that not lower than 150 residers of Gashua city in Yobe State bones of order complaint yearly.
He said, “ according to the report, about 120 to 150 people die of habitual order complaint in Gashu’a Local Government Area annually.
“ About 20 to 30 people are diagnosed with order complaint every month. ’’
He, thus, called for quick and drastic measures by the state and the Federal Government to check the trend.
Mu’azu said his organisation had launched a crusade —#ActOnKidneyNow#ResueGashu ’ a — using a multidimensional approach to support the government in addressing the situation.
He, still, confided the state government for furnishing free dialysis for aborigines of the state suffering from the complaint and prompted the government to find the root cause of the problem and put an end to it.
The group CEO further called on people of the state and other stakeholders to share in the crusade to insure preventative measures were put in place.
Meanwhile, NAN recalls that following the ICIR report, Anwali Ahmad, Head of Chemical Pathology Unit, Specialist Sanitarium, Gashau, told the Centre that numerous residers die of order failure because they save the foods they eat with chemicals.
Ahmad, whose department tests feathers and identifies people with the complaint, said numerous growers in the city use banned dressings on their crops.
He added that in Gashua, people do time- round husbandry through the support of the Komadugu River.
