Osun State Commissioner for finance, Honourable Adeola Olusola Ogungbile, has enjoined Egbe Idagbasoke Iragberi to close ranks and form a common front to push the ancient town forward in terms of development.
Hon. Ogungbile also urged them to increase their support for Governor Ademola Adeleke PDP-led administration in the state in its efforts to ensure that the dividends of democracy spread across all the grassroots
Hon. Ogungbile gave this charge in his office while addressing the group, who came to pay him a courtesy visit.
The Iragberi-born finance guru, while addressing the various demands of the visitors, explained that Osun is currently witnessing tremendous changes in governance across all sectors under the leadership of Governor Adeleke since he assumed office in November 2022. He noted that the issue of 'capital flight,' institutionalized by the previous government officials under the APC, has become a thing of the past, as Osun's wealth is now being used for its development, unlike what was witnessed during the APC-led administrations in the state.
He said further that despite the state government's lean purse, the prudence and self-denial by Governor Adeleke and government officials under him had engendered the execution of many developmental programmes in education, health, road, and agriculture.
While reiterating that the government of the day is passionate about the well-being and comfort of its citizens, he assured them that indigenes of Iragberi and the state at large will have cause to smile very soon as efforts are in top gear to employ people into teaching jobs, Imole Corps, and other sectors .
He pointed out that the minimum wage issue, which had forced the government to exercise caution in doing the needful, has been resolved.
The Commissioner commended Governor Adeleke for prioritizing the welfare of the state workers and retirees, adding that his kind gesture has drastically reduced the mortality rate among them.
Hon. Ogungbile also maintained that he is running an open-door policy, emphasizing that all the visitors' demands, which include the building of road infrastructure, supply of electricity transformers, and the establishment of higher institutions and industries, among others, will be addressed at the appropriate time.
Earlier, the Chairman of the group, Imam Musibaudeen Akinola, on behalf of Aragberi of Iragberi, Oba Folorunso Agboade Makanju, Osunsoko 1, expressed deep appreciation to the Commissioner for his pivotal role in bringing development to the town. They tasked him not to rest on his oars and to make good use of his office to ensure that Iragberi is not sidelined in the state's affairs.
They later prayed for resounding success for the Commissioner, urging him not to deviate from his good path, stating that any politician who performs well while in office will be well regarded among his people.
